Equipment Standards



Ring lances
1 to 1.25 inch diameter a minimum of 7 feet and a maximum of 9 feet. The lance must be marked 5 feet from where your hand is to the tip of the lance.

Quintain lances:
The quintain lances must be 1.25 inch in diameter. The lances must be 10 feet in length. They should be 8 feet from the hand to the tip of the lance. They can be made of rattan, hardwood (ash, hickory or equivlaent) But it is recommended that they be made out of pultruded fiberglass. Pultruded fiberglass is the only fiberglass that is authorized for use in making quintain lances. The tip of the lance should be heavily resilient, foam or rubber.

Spears:
Spears are recommended to be made out of hardwood. They can be a minimum of three feet long to a maximum of 5 feet. They are allowed to have a live steel tip. There are no requirements to mark the throwing spears.

Padded mace or short sword for heads:
The mace or sword can be any length up to a maximum of 36 inches. It is recommended that it be made out of rattan. Lanyards are not authorized for use in Calontir.

Sword for reeds:
The sword for reeds can either be made of hardwood or rattan and can be up to 36 inches in length. The same sword/mace can be used for both the heads and reeds if desired.
